Fall in Love With Your Home

Whether you’re a fall enthusiast or you dread this time of year, there’s plenty you’ll need to do to make sure your home is ready for the transition! From preparing your heating system to finding ways to enjoy the cooler temperatures, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading for all of our best tips!

Replace Your Air Filters

While allergies are most closely associated with the spring season, they don’t just disappear as the temperatures begin to dip. In fact, some people find that their allergies are just as prevalent in the fall as they are in spring. The only thing that changes is the cause of those allergic reactions.

While your allergies are likely triggered by an influx of pollen released by grasses, trees, weeds, and flowers in the springtime, your fall allergies are triggered by something different. Fall allergies are most often caused by ragweed, and studies have shown that about 75% of people allergic to spring plants also have allergic reactions to ragweed!

The best way to eliminate the effects of these allergens all year long is t keep them out of your home. To do this, we recommend replacing your air filters on a more frequent basis. While you can technically get away with replacing them every 90 days, if you have noticed an increase in allergy irritation, we recommend replacing them every 30 to 60 days instead.

This will ensure that your filters are trapping those allergens attempting to enter your home through the air supply and prevent them from circulating throughout your air ducts.

Make a Fall Bucketlist!

Even if you’re not a fan of colder weather and earlier sunsets, there’s still so much to enjoy about the fall season! Make a bucket list with activities you want to do or places you want to see this fall to help you fully embrace this time of year and enjoy yourself while doing it.

Here are some of the activities we’re adding to our bucket list:

  • Drive to see the leaves changing color
  • Visit a pumpkin patch
  • Carve pumpkins
  • Watch scary movies
  • Drink pumpkin spice beverages
  • Go to a football game
  • Dare to enter a haunted house
  • And so much more!

Try some of these activities out, and let us know how you enjoy them!

Rotate Your Wardrobe

We all love spring dresses, but you won’t be wearing many of those for the next few months. For this reason, we recommend fully rotating your wardrobe. Move those dresses, shorts, and tops that are perfect for summer to the back of your dresser and closet, and pull those jeans, sweaters, and coats to the front. This will make them easier to access and remind you of pieces of clothing you may have forgotten about.

This is also a great time of year to put together donation bags of clothing you no longer wear! You can either give items away to friends or donate them to your local women’s shelter.

Schedule Fall HVAC Maintenance

How often should you schedule HVAC maintenance? We recommend at least twice a year, and the best times to do it are during the “in-between” seasons of spring and fall! This allows us to inspect your unit and make any necessary repairs or potential replacements before you’re in desperate need of these systems. HVAC companies also get inundated with calls during the summer and winter months, so it’s always best to plan ahead so that we can get to your home in a shorter amount of time.

If you need any help this fall getting your heating system into working order or replacing your air filters, you know who to call!
